Week 9 - Everything Is Great!

Hello everyone again!  Can't believe it's late December and I havn't seen snow!  This week was pretty good!  A lot always happens and I can't remember but I will try to get as much as I can.

To start off, there is this family called the Riva Family. They are recent converts and we eat at there house on Fridays for lunch.  They are a super nice family and I love them!  They are way fun to be around even though I don't understand half of what they say.  But we had a family night with them and the mom's sister's family.  They aren't members yet but I'm sure they will be soon.  They live in a different sector so we had the missionaries from that sector over as well.  They talked about the history of the Book of Mormon and read the introduction.  Then after we all bore our testimonies about the Book of Mormon and answered questions.  The dad always wanted to read and had a few questions but he was very interested.

After we played a game with them and they gave us some snacks and soda and we went to dinner afterwards.  But that's just the kind of people here.  Everywhere you go people offer you something to drink or eat and we just take it.

Yesterday was interesting.  We had church as normal and after all the meetings and everything, we went to go to our citas.  We were about to get to our first cita when Eder, a less active member drove by.  He stopped and talked to us!  We asked him how he was and he started crying and said, "Mi familia, se fueron." which pretty much means my family left.  I felt so bad for him.  We set up a cita with him for 6 that night.

We came by at 6 but he wasn't there so we went back to the room and called him.  He told us to come by at 7 so we did.  We listened to his story and gave him a blessing.  But he said that being away from his family for 1 day made him realize the importance of eternal families.  He said that when or if they come back that he is going to go back to church, get married (because he wasn´t yet), and take his family to the temple.  It was sad to listen to but I'm sure he realizes now more than ever the importance of the gospel.

In other news, we have 2 baptisms set up for this Saturday!  They already had their interviews and are ready to go.  They are 2 kids ages 9 and 13.  There parents want to be baptized as well but they technically aren't legal in Peru.  So in January they are going back to Bolivia to work out papers and come back.  They are also a really nice family.

We have a new investigator that is friends with one of the members that just recently left on her mission (which is weird because she will still get back before me..).   But we went to his house and he said that he has been praying to God to help him with his sinus infection.  We told him that it's no coincidence that we are there at that time.  He seems like a really nice guy and seems like he will progress really fast.

Other than all this, everything has been great!  Food isn't too bad yet, I'm somewhat adjusting to the heat.  Thanks for everything and all the support!  Love you all!
