Week 47 - Das Altes wird vergangen

Liebe Grüße!

This week was transfers, so that means that I got a new companion. My last companion got transferred to Dortmund. My new companion and I get along pretty well. He was the Zone Leader in Frankfurt just before he came here.

We've still been spending a lot of time trying to find people to teach. We are coming up with some pretty good ideas and I am pretty excited for a couple of them. We should start finding a lot of people pretty soon.

I read a talk this week by Elder Uchtdorf that he gave to mission presidents a couple of years ago. He talked about "The Fearless Missionary." He gave a great example of turning our weaknesses into strengths from the scriptures. He talked about Peter, one of Christ's discliples during His ministry and presiding Apostle after His Resurrection. He compared Peter's life before Christ performed the Atonement.  For example, in Mark 14: 66-72, Peter denies knowing Christ three times, after claiming that he wouldn't shortly before (Mark 14: 29-31). After that, Elder Uchtdorf compares Peter's life after Christ was resurrected. He gave the example in Acts 3: 1-11, where Peter and John heal a man lame from birth. Peter was also taken into prison for his preaching, but boldly testified of Christ.

I think a scripture that sums this principle up perfectly is either Ether 12: 27, "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." And/or 2 Corinthians 5: 17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
